EL CREO ORACION REGISTRATION
Martes de la 23ª semana del tiempo ordinarioĪ veces quiero evitar ver, leer o escuchar las noticias. That doesn’t mean avoiding the practical things I can do-everything from volunteering or sending a donation to writing a public official or demonstrating with others. But it recognizes that there are some things-many things-that seem beyond our human power to resolve. We need God to help us and with God’s help and guidance, we can better help others. What better way to ask God to enter these situations and the lives of all those involved? It’s good and sometimes necessary to “detox” from the news and pray. Lately, however, I’ve remembered that another option is to pray as I’m watching, reading, and listening to the news. Throughout his saving mission, in the middle of his preaching and healing work, he made time to pray and be in communion with the one he called Father. Paul’s words strive to “walk in him, rooted in him, and built upon him.” I will live in greater communion with him.Īs Jesus demonstrates in today’s gospel reading, the foundation of that communion is prayer. If I believe in Christ’s saving power, the love he embodied, and the kingdom of God that he proclaimed, I will in St. Despair and cynicism aren’t sustainable emotions. What is a Christian to do? Ignoring these things won’t make them go away, much less resolve them.
It seems like it’s all bad, all the time-tragic, frightening, enraging. The situations seem overwhelming: a global pandemic, climate change, natural disasters, wars, and other forms of violence and division. Sometimes I want to avoid watching, reading, or listening to the news. Tuesday of the 23rd Week in Ordinary Time
